Early Life and Pageantry
Peniche began her public life on the beauty pageant circuit, winning the Miss United States Teen title in 2002 at age 18. In 2003 she was crowned Miss Oregon Teen USA, positioning her for national recognition. Her pageant career came to an abrupt end in 2004, when she was stripped of the Miss Oregon Teen USA title after agreeing to pose for Playboy magazine — a decision that ended her pageant run but established her name in entertainment.
Career
During this period Peniche pursued acting and music with limited success, appearing in minor television roles and forming a short-lived music group, Hollywood Interrupted. She also briefly worked as a casting director.
Her most significant television exposure came through reality shows focused on addiction recovery. In 2009 she joined the cast of VH1’s “Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew,” where she sought treatment under Dr. Drew Pinsky; her volatile behaviour, including confrontations with staff and other patients, made her a controversial but memorable cast member. She then briefly appeared on the third season of “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” but was asked to leave after displaying erratic behaviour, with producers determining she required more intensive treatment than the show could provide.
Peniche’s most significant media attention came not from her professional work but from a controversial video leaked in 2009 featuring her with actors Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart in a private setting. Though the video did not contain explicit sexual content, it showed the three in various stages of undress and sparked significant media interest, overshadowing her professional efforts.
Personal Life
Peniche’s personal life has been marked by public struggles with addiction, including reported struggles with methamphetamine, documented through her rehabilitation-focused reality appearances and legal issues. In 2006, Aaron Carter proposed to her in Las Vegas after knowing her for only five days; she initially agreed but broke it off six days later. She had previously dated Aaron’s older brother, Nick Carter. In 2011 she married Justin Williams; they had two children together before divorcing in 2020. In recent years she has maintained a lower public profile.
Peniche’s pageant-to-reality-television story sits alongside other models whose careers took unexpected turns, including Hailey Clauson, Crystal Harris and Josie Maran.
