Taylor Swift is the richest singer in the world in 2026, with Forbes estimating her net worth at about $2 billion. She is followed by Paul McCartney, at about $1.4 billion on the Sunday Times Rich List, and Bruce Springsteen, at about $1.2 billion on Forbes’ March 2026 celebrity-billionaire list.
The pattern across the whole top 10 is the same: almost nobody here got rich from record sales alone. The biggest fortunes come from owning music catalogues, selling catalogues, decades of stadium touring, and — in Rihanna’s and Selena Gomez’s cases — owning a beauty brand outright.
All figures below are estimates, not bank balances. Forbes and the Sunday Times use different methods and different dates, so where they disagree the article gives a range and names the source. Private company valuations, in particular, are not cash.

Just outside the top 10: Ed Sheeran, at £410 million on the Sunday Times Rich List 2026, about $550 million, from stadium tours and songwriting royalties. He is the wealthiest singer of his generation on that list, and he would enter the top 10 on a UK-only ranking.
1. Taylor Swift — about $2 billion
Taylor Swift’s fortune is built on touring and ownership. The Eras Tour grossed about $2.2 billion in ticket sales, the highest-grossing tour in history, and in May 2025 she bought back the master recordings of her first six albums for a reported about $360 million. Forbes values her music catalogue at about $600 million and her real estate at about $110 million, with the rest coming from royalties and touring income.
She is the clearest example of the modern model: control the recordings, tour at stadium scale, and keep the profit instead of splitting it with a label and outside promoters.
2. Paul McCartney — about $1.4 billion
Paul McCartney’s wealth, shared with his wife Nancy Shevell on the Sunday Times Rich List, comes from the Beatles catalogue, his solo catalogue, and his publishing company MPL Communications, plus decades of touring, including the Got Back tour into his 80s. The Sunday Times put the couple at £1.055 billion in its 2026 musicians list, up from £1.025 billion in 2025, which converts to roughly $1.4 billion.
He is the first British musician to pass £1 billion on that list, and his fortune has grown as catalogue values have risen, not from a single recent hit.
3. Bruce Springsteen — about $1.2 billion
Bruce Springsteen sold his recorded music and songwriting rights to Sony in 2021 in a deal widely reported at about $500 million, and he has added hundreds of millions more from touring with the E Street Band. Forbes put him at about $1.2 billion in its March 2026 celebrity-billionaire list.
Springsteen himself has disputed the billionaire label in the past, which is a useful reminder for this whole list: a catalogue sale price is a real transaction, but the total that follows from it is still an estimate.
4. Rihanna — about $1 billion
Rihanna has not released an album since Anti in 2016, yet her fortune has grown, because it no longer depends on music. Forbes put her at about $1 billion in 2026, down from about $1.4 billion in 2024, with most of the value coming from her 50% stake in Fenty Beauty, launched with LVMH in 2017, and her stake in Savage X Fenty.
That is the key distinction in her story: she co-owns the beauty business rather than licensing her name to it, so the valuation of the company feeds directly into her own net worth.
5. Beyoncé — about $1 billion
Beyoncé became a billionaire in December 2025, according to Forbes, after the Renaissance World Tour grossed close to $580 million in 2023 and the Cowboy Carter tour generated more than $400 million in ticket sales plus about $50 million in merchandise in 2025. Because much of that touring was produced in-house through her company Parkwood Entertainment, founded in 2008, she kept a larger share of the profit than artists who rely on outside promoters.
Her catalogue, concert films, licensing and streaming income sit underneath the touring figures and keep paying long after each tour ends.
6. Madonna — about $850 million
Madonna’s fortune, put at about $850 million by Forbes in 2024, rests on a catalogue built over four decades, stadium touring, and real estate. She has no single recent business sale to match Springsteen’s Sony deal or Rihanna’s Fenty stake, which is why her figure has moved more slowly than the billionaires above her — and why it is also less disputed.
7. Selena Gomez — about $700 million
Selena Gomez is the most disputed figure in this top 10, and the article keeps the dispute in view rather than hiding it. Forbes put her at about $700 million in 2026, driven by Rare Beauty, launched in 2020, plus acting, including Only Murders in the Building, and brand partnerships. Bloomberg, by contrast, put her at about $1.3 billion in 2024, on a higher valuation of her majority stake in Rare Beauty.
The gap is not about her music or acting income, which are comparatively small. It is entirely about how much a private beauty company is worth, and no public filing settles it. Readers should treat $700 million as the Forbes figure and $1.3 billion as the Bloomberg figure, not as two facts to average.
8. Elton John — about $640 million
Elton John’s fortune, put at £480 million on the Sunday Times Rich List 2026, about $640 million, comes from a catalogue spanning five decades and from the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, one of the highest-grossing tours of all time. Unlike the beauty-brand billionaires, his wealth is almost entirely music: songs, publishing, recordings and live performance.
9. Mick Jagger — about $600 million
Mick Jagger, put at £450 million on the Sunday Times Rich List 2026, about $600 million, shares the Rolling Stones catalogue and touring income with Keith Richards, who is listed at the same £450 million figure. The Stones’ catalogue and their ability to fill stadiums into their 80s are the whole story: no outside business empire is needed to explain the number.
10. Celine Dion — about $570 million
Celine Dion’s fortune, put at about $570 million by Forbes, was built on Las Vegas residencies as much as on record sales. A residency gives a singer a fixed, high-paying run without the cost and risk of a world tour, and Dion’s two long Las Vegas runs turned that model into a nine-figure fortune, on top of a catalogue of hits from the 1990s onwards.
How this ranking was made
Forbes’ March 2026 celebrity-billionaire list is the primary source for the billionaires in this ranking, and the Sunday Times Rich List 2026 is the primary source for the British singers where Forbes does not give a 2026 figure. Where a figure is from 2024, the article says so, as with Madonna and Celine Dion. Where sources disagree, as with Selena Gomez, both figures are given with their sources.
Singers only are ranked here. Rappers, including Jay-Z at about $2.8 billion as the richest musician overall, are ranked separately in the forthcoming Richest Rappers hub, and groups and estates are not ranked as individual singers.
